A LOST LEG IS NOT A LOST LIFE
Attach A Leg Grenada is a non-profit organisation which provide a cost efficient and high quality service for amputees.
Loosing a limb should not automatically mean the loss of mobility. Attach A Leg Grenada focuses on individuals in need of prosthetic aid with the purpose of providing the means for them to regain their natural mobility and improve their quality of life by overcoming disabilities caused amputations.
Today Attach a Leg operates on the island of Grenada in co-operation with the Grenada Council for the disabled (GNCD) and the General Hospital in the capital of St. Georges. Our vision is to see the Attach a Leg service grow to benefit amputees in need throughout the Caribbean.
Any Grenadian amputee living on the island of Grenada can be eligible for Attach A Leg Grenada's services. Either through self financing or by donations made to Attach A Leg Grenada by our sponsors. Contact us if you or someone you know is in need of a prosthetic leg.
Safety pins and prosthetic history
The lady we met who has been wearing this prosthesis for over 30 years is the sweet Miss Teeta. Sadly Miss Teeta was injured and lost her leg in the bombings of the revolution. She has been wanting to get back into her community for many years, but due to this cumbersome uncomfortable prosthesis she has not been able too. Very Understandable!
The history that goes behind the many safety pins will never be known. How many do you think there are? It was a real treat to meet this lady, she lives close to a bus stop and you can see her watching the world go by through her window. She has now had her new leg now for over 5 months, and is moving with a lot more ease, continuing to use her walking aid for balance.
We hope she will be lucky enough to get physiotherapy each week, to enable to get back to church too. If you know of anyone who maybe able to assist here in Grenada, please get in touch. Thank you! / ALG.
